Dear Colleagues,
You are invited to participate in our University’s decennial review process. Conducted every ten years, accreditation visits provide faculty, staff and students an excellent opportunity to examine the University’s commitment to high-quality education. The University of Nevada, Reno, is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, one of six regional accrediting agencies in the United States. Continue Reading »

Dear Colleagues,
On September 29, the Pack takes on UNLV at Mackay Stadium. It’s a long-standing rivalry that produces a lively, hard-fought game on the field, a competition fueled by our desire to keep the Fremont Cannon in the north and painted blue. Dear Colleagues:
On Saturday the University received confirmation from the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office that the body found earlier this week in Elko County has been positively identified as Judy Calder, associate professor for Human Development and Family Studies in the College of Health and Human Sciences.
Judy was a longtime faculty member at the University, and was a good friend to her colleagues and students. I am saddened beyond words to hear of this tragic news.
On behalf of the entire University, I wish to extend our deepest sympathies to Judy’s family, friends and colleagues across campus. Continue Reading »

From the New Student Opening Ceremony: Dr. Debra Vigil was the inspiring speaker with an incredible story. She has offered to share her keynote address online.
Move-in day: it was hard to miss the many blue “Nevada Greek” shirts. Sorority and fraternity members were on hand to make move-in smoother and faster for students and their families.
One book: incoming freshmen met to talk about Sweet Promised Land, the inaugural selection for the Class of 2011 Summer Scholars Program. There was lots of buzz from students, parents, faculty and staff. The goal was to get new students talking by giving them a common starting point.
Culture of completion: we are talking about it and that’s good for our students and good for our University. Graduating in 4 years makes a difference.
